Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 7 December 2025

Our Commitment

Hampshire Young Walkers is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to achieve these goals.

We aim to make our website as accessible as possible and welcome feedback on how we can improve. This accessibility statement explains how accessible this website is, what to do if you have difficulty using it, and how to report accessibility problems with the site.

Standards and Guidelines

This website aims to conform to level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 (WCAG 2.1 AA). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user-friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA, and AAA). We've chosen Level AA as the target for the Hampshire Young Walkers website.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard Navigation: The website can be navigated using only a keyboard, without requiring a mouse
  • Screen Reader Support: Content is structured with proper headings, landmarks, and semantic HTML to work with screen readers
  • Alt Text: Images include descriptive alternative text where appropriate
  • Color Contrast: Text and background colors meet WCAG AA contrast requirements
  • Focus Indicators: Interactive elements have visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation
  • Form Labels: All form fields have associated labels for screen reader users
  • Responsive Design: The website is designed to work on a variety of devices and screen sizes
  • Text Resizing: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of functionality

Known Issues and Limitations

We are aware that some parts of this website may not be fully accessible. We are actively working to address these issues and improve the accessibility of the site. Known issues include:

  • Some older content may not fully meet accessibility standards as we continue to update and improve the site
  • Some third-party content or widgets may not be fully accessible, though we aim to use accessible alternatives where possible
  • Some interactive features may require JavaScript to function, though we ensure core functionality is available without it

We are committed to addressing these issues and will update this statement as we make improvements.
