A weekend away in Sussex. This is in conjunction with the 1066 Country Walk which is on the calendar and being tackled in two parts over the weekend. We will be staying at the beginning of the walk in a Chalet at Pevensey Bay Holiday park. The cost for 6 of us will be £56 each for the 3 nights, this would go down slightly if a couple took the double bed bringing the number up to 7; I have free cancellation up until 2nd April so there's no risk of being stuck with an unwanted bigger bill. Accommodation details here - http://www.booking.com/Share-2eTw0X The plan for the weekend: Friday 3rd May - Head down after work by car or train arriving around 19:30, go to a local pub for dinner. Saturday 4th May - Walk 15 miles Pevensey to Battle, if there's time look around Battle Abbey and the battlefield, having dinner in Battle before heading back on the train to Pevensey. Sunday 5th May - Train to Battle to take up the route and complete the last 15 miles of the walk, Battle to Rye, choice of either dinner in Rye or back to the chalet to cook a group meal. Train back to Pevensey. Monday 6th May - check out, explore the castle at Pevensey if it takes your fancy or Battle Abbey if didn't have time on the Saturday, or whatever you fancy instead. You do not have to be on the trip to join the walks, as all start and stop points are served by rail stations well linked back to Hampshire.
