It's that time of year for the annual Prince of Wales Beer Festival in Farnborough (http://www.theprincepub.uk/). In addition to the usual 9 real ale pumps in the bar, there will be around 40 beers with a "Beers of the North" theme. There may be some real ciders too (none of this insipid fizzy stuff!). There's usually a barbecue going with burgers, sausages and a vegetarian option to stave off any hunger pangs. To build up a thirst beforehand, we'll have an afternoon walk into the mainly coniferous woodlands on the Ash Ranges then along a small part of the Basingstoke Canal from Deepcut to Frimley Green. The walk is timed for the 1359 arrival from Basingstoke. As the main intention of this walk is to visit the beer festival afterwards, it is recommended that attendees come by train if possible or have a designated driver. Parking at Farnborough Main is £2.10 for all day.
