Starting at Shawford, we follow the River Itchen upstream, before heading up into the South Downs. We then follow a variety of paths, including an ox drove - an old route for taking livestock to market or alternative pastures. We return to Shawford via the villages of Owslebury (scene of a riot in 1830!) and Twyford. Post-walk drink at the Bridge Inn in Shawford.
: Shawford Down car park, at the western (lower side) of Shawford Down. This is about 80 metres west (uphill) from the station; on Google Maps the road is named Bridge Terrace. The meet time is 10:20 to fit in with trains from both north and south.
